a distillery dedicated to creating the highest quality Japanese grain whisky.

THROUGH A CONTINUOUS DISTILLATION process using two, three or four columns, Suntory’s Chita distillery creates three types of grain whisky—clean, medium and heavy—all from corn. This diversity is rare among grain whisky distillers as most only produce the heavy type.

AGEING IN THE UNIQUE CLIMATE and nature conditions of Omi and Hakushu, using American White Oak casks, including puncheon, hogshead and bourbon barrels,
further contributes to the incredible range of
flavors presented by Chita grain whiskies.

THIS RANGE, combined with exceptional smoothness, make Chita grain whiskies the perfect dashi for Suntory’s renowned blended whiskies.

Until recently, Suntory’s Master Blenders could not produce the level of complexity and depth needed to offer the world a single grain whisky that met the prodigious standards of the House.

SHINJI FUKUYO realized that what makes Chita grain whisky an exceptional dashi also restricted it from reaching its full potential—its simplicity.

TO IMBUE GREATER COMPLEXITY and depth of flavour, Fukuyo chose to age Chita grain whisky in wine
and Spanish Oak casks, in addition to the tried and true American White Oak casks.

THE RESULT IS A MILDER, smoother grain whisky with unparalleled sophistication and a clean, clear finish
