The first single grain whisky
from the House of Suntory Whisky
Continuing 40 years of excellence in distilling Japanese grain whiskies, the House of Suntory Whisky’s Master Blenders have created an outstanding single grain whisky.
ON THE SHORES OF CHITA PENINSULA,
Keizo Saji—Suntory’s second Master Blender—built
a distillery dedicated to creating the highest quality Japanese grain whisky. WITH VERSTILE FLAVOURS AND EXQUISITE BALANCE,
Chita grain whiskies have traditionally been used as the “dashi” or broth that enhances the harmony of Suntory blends.
Through continuous research and innovation, Chita’s grain whiskies have achieved an unrivaled sophistication and a level of complexity that lets them finally take center stage.
'TSUKURIWAKE'—the philosophy of diversity in the making—
underpins the House of
Suntory Whisky’s legendary
Art of Blending.
Diversity in distillation and
cask type gives
Chita grain whiskies
their exceptional range of flavors.
THROUGH A CONTINUOUS DISTILLATION process using two, three or four columns, Suntory’s Chita distillery creates three types of grain whisky—clean, medium and heavy—all from corn. This diversity is rare among grain whisky distillers as most only produce the heavy type.
AGEING IN THE UNIQUE CLIMATE and nature conditions of Omi and Hakushu, using American White Oak casks, including puncheon, hogshead and bourbon barrels, further contributes to the incredible range of
flavors presented by Chita grain whiskies.
THIS RANGE, combined with exceptional smoothness, make Chita grain whiskies the perfect dashi for Suntory’s renowned blended whiskies.
Until recently, Suntory’s Master Blenders could not produce the level of complexity and depth needed to offer the world a single grain whisky that met the prodigious standards of the House.
Fourth Chief Blender
Shinji Fukuyo took the next step
in Chita’s long tradition of innovation by using
new cask types to create
an exceptionally smooth and
complex single grain whisky.
SHINJI FUKUYO realized that what makes Chita grain whisky an exceptional dashi also restricted it from reaching its full potential—its simplicity.
TO IMBUE GREATER COMPLEXITY and depth of flavour, Fukuyo chose to age Chita grain whisky in wine and Spanish Oak casks, in addition to the tried and true American White Oak casks.
THE RESULT IS A MILDER, smoother grain whisky with unparalleled sophistication and a clean, clear finish
—The Chita Single Grain Whisky.
In The Chita
Single Grain Whisky,
Fukuyo achieved an unrivaled balance of complexity,
subtlety and refinement,
and a distinctively
versatile flavor profile.
Grand, reposed and tranquil, Shinji Fukuyo describes The Chita Single Grain Whisky as the “serenity of Japanese whisky.” Like the misty, calm seas of the Chita Peninsula on a day of elegant stillness, this airy whisky has a presence that is unmistakably serene.
From the House of Suntory Whisky, a mild,
smooth single grain whisky with unparalleled sophistication
and a clean, clear finish.
